Mandie Demeskey message | March 2023
In March 2023, Mandie DeMeskey, former Local 52 official and recently defeated candidate for the NYC IATSE local’s presidency, alleged that she caught Richard Dolan and Charles E. Meere III stealing money, presumably from the union. DeMeskey, who resigned a year early from her position as Business Representative after losing the 2022 Local 52 presidential election, made these accusations in an incendiary message provided to Thousands of Tiny Tyrants by another former Local 52 official. At the time DeMeskey lodged her allegations, Dolan served as Local 52 Director of Member Services and Meere as Secretary-Treasurer. Previously, Dolan was Secretary-Treasurer from 2015 to 2023, and Meere was Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2023.
In April 2024, Thousands of Tiny Tyrants emailed Richard Dolan, Charles Meere, and Mandie DeMeskey, wife of IATSE International President Matthew D. Loeb, for comment on DeMeskey’s message and allegations. As of February 2025, the involved parties have not responded.
Knopf [WGA] v. Producers Guild of America
In Knopf v. Producers Guild of America, Inc. (1974), employee-producers challenged PGA's representation, claiming it was dominated by employer-producers. The California Court of Appeal ruled that PGA's employer control invalidated their collective bargaining agreement.
